The Bureau of Inverse Technology has communicated and co-operated since 1992 with the aim to function as an information agency, servicing the Information Age, as well as investigating the motives behind its rapid growth. This takes place through a series of projects developing technological products - radio transmitters, surveillance methods, spy planes, etcetera - which are then applied in subtle attacks, for example on the airwaves, or through video surveillance of public spaces.
The organisation's projects could be described as the manifestation of a kind of sensitive, viral actions inspired by such diverse sources as computer games, flight simulators and corporate marketing strategies. Further information about the activities of the Bureau of Inverse Technology is available at their website: www.bureauit.org.
On 18-20 February, a series of workshops will be given by an agent from the Bureau of Inverse Technology, regarding the different varieties of what is known as B.I.T. technology. These will take place in the Index lobby on the ground floor.
Index will provide more information about these workshops by e- mail during week 7.
We are currently updating our e-mailing list. Please get in contact with us at index@algonet.se if you wish to receive ongoing information about the gallery's programme.
