Peter Thörneby describes art as "a smooth, blank surface upon which ideas slip and slide in totally unexpected, impossible ways". In his project for Index, he lets various references slide around and form new constellations.
In one of the works, he plays with the ambivalence that occurs when, as a critical observer, we read a common cinematic cliché such as the sun reflecting in the camera lens, while simultaneously we are carried along by the film maker´s eminent, dream-like state. Peter Thörneby has worked in a similar way with the sound included in the work.
If you like, the exhibition can be read as a collection of influences in flux, on their way to resolution within the observer´s own mind. The exhibition notes provided by Peter Thörneby offer no ready explanations or answers, but provide an opportunity - to create your own script "in your head".
Welcome!
