Pelle Polis

Still from the film "Pelle Polis" by Pål Hollender.

"Pelle Polis" is a film by Pål Hollender about power and sexual abuse. The film is about pedophiles, adults who are emotionally and sexually attracted to children. The main character in Hollender's film, Pelle Polis, is charged with having sexually molesting a minor.

"I'm not taking that risk again, for my own sake. That's a promise I've made to my superiors," says Pelle Polis about the incident. By day, he works as a policeman. "You help people in various ways," he says about his job.

Pål Hollender, who went to Valand Art School, has previously worked with the theme of sexual abuse in his autobiographical film Journal (1996). He describes his work and attitude as an artist in the following way: "When I carry out an art work I choose a method which makes it impossible for me to set boundaries before I have already past them. Afterwards when the work is presented to a viewer, I am entrusting in him or her a confidence that they must choose to accept or not, because my work demands that he or she sets the limits for themselves. I surrender any conclusion about my trustworthiness to the viewer, and at the same time I am questioning his.

For my own part, my work always represents my own trust in myself, more than my confidence in others. My intention is that it should work in the same way for a viewer, resulting in that he or she is going to discovermore about their own trust in themselves than about their trust in me as an artist and a person."

The film "Pelle Polis" is 70 minutes long. During the exhibition period, the film will start at 12.00, 1.20 pm, 2.40 pm. On the opening day the film will start at 2.00 pm and 3.15 pm. Of course, one can come and go at any time during the film.
