Then/Now, drawings
 Dan Perjovschi:Then/Now 15 Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Dan Perjovschi has been invited to present one new drawing every Monday between 9 November and 21 December. The period runs from the day that the Berlin Wall was torn down by an angry crowd of people until the day that Ceausescu failed to calm down the as-angry crowd of people gathered in front of the Communist Party’s Central Committee in central Bucharest. That was the beginning of Ceausescu’s quick fall. The online presentation of Dan Perjovschi’s drawings is part of the exhibition From One Thing to the Other at the Romanian Cultural Institute of Stockholm until 19 February 2010. In a collaboration between the Romanian Cultural Institute of Stockholm, Index - The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, Marabouparken, Bildmuseet Umeå, Gävle Art Center, Malmö Art Museum, Signal and Norrköping Art Museum, Perjovschi’s drawings will be published simultaneously on the webpages of these institutions. The artists participating in the exhibition From One Thing to the Other are Marie-Louise Ekman (Stockholm), Harun Farocki/Andrei Ujică (Berlin), Anja Kirschner (Berlin/London), David Maljkovic (Berlin/ Rijeka), Ciprian Muresan (Cluj), Dan Perjovschi (Bucharest), Viktor Rosdahl (Malmö), STEALTH (Belgrade/Rotterdam), Judi Werthein (Buenos Aires/New York), Åbäke (Stockholm/London). Curator: Maria Lind. Read more about the exhibition here. Dan Perjovschi is an artist with a long history of presenting his political and often satirical drawings in the mass media. Since 1991 he has been regularly publishing drawings commenting on current events in the Bucharest-based magazine 22. For Manifesta 2 in Luxemburg in 1998 he followed the same model and published new drawings in the daily Tageblatt and the weekly d'Letzebuerger Land. At the same time he hung the pages for the newspapers with the fresh drawings in Casino Luxemburg, the local arts centre. With simple means Perjovschi is making sharp comments on major political, economic and art-related subjects. In this way he delivers an image based on the world that he witnesses but also on how it is mediated by the news flow. Sometimes the image is sent back to the media which provided the news in the first place, other times he draws directly on the wall, for example in art museums.
