 Paul Sharits, Razor Blades (USA, 1965-1968, 16mm, dur. 25mins) Image courtesy: the artist and Greene Naftali Galley, New York To accompany the final week of Sture Johannesson’s second major solo exhibition in Sweden (In Memery, until Saturday 25th May), Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation and Taverna Brillo invite you to an evening of 1960s films and light show projections by Joshua White (Liquid Loops, 1969). Hosted at Taverna Brillo, the event includes a presentation of films by Sture Johannesson/Jan Sjökvist (Agent Knallrup med rätt att knuffas, SE, 1967, colour with sound, dur. 11mins) and Paul Sharits (Razor Blades, USA, 1965-1968, colour with sound, dur. 25mins).
Screening starts at 7 p.m.
To complement it, a selection of the most mind-expanding psychedelic music presented by Stefan Kéry, member of the legendary Swedish garage rock and acid punk band The Stomachmouths and founder of the multimedia company Subliminal Sounds specialized in psychedelics, art and culture from the 1960s to the present. His live music performance will accompany Joshua White's Liquid Loops, a video portrait of his ephemeral light show projections Joshua Light Shows. The material shown is a digitized copy of the original recording and a unique document of the classic light show phenomenon.
